Knitted Products: Handmade in Kathmandu from Natural Himalayan Fibers

Every piece in our knitted products category is handcrafted in Kathmandu, Nepal, from fibers that grow naturally across the Himalayan region. We work exclusively with wild hemp, organic cotton, hand-spun pashmina, Himalayan nettle (Allo), bamboo linen, and raw silk, all processed without synthetic chemicals, dyes, or finishes.

Nepal has one of the oldest textile traditions in South Asia. For over 600 years, communities across the Kathmandu Valley and the hill regions have grown, spun, and woven natural fibers by hand. Our partner workshops in Lalitpur and Patan continue this heritage, using traditional wooden pit-looms, hand-operated spinning wheels, and botanical dye techniques passed down through generations of women artisans.

Unlike fast fashion produced in anonymous overseas factories, every Kyamuno product can be traced back to a specific workshop, a specific artisan, and a specific fiber source. Our supply chain operates entirely within Nepal, with raw materials sourced from hill farms within 200 km of our Kathmandu studio. This short, transparent supply chain means lower carbon emissions, fairer wages, and a product you can feel good about wearing.

Why Choose Natural Fibers?

Synthetic fabrics like polyester, nylon, and acrylic are petroleum-based plastics that shed microplastics into waterways with every wash. Natural fibers like hemp, cotton, and pashmina are renewable, biodegradable, and breathable. They regulate temperature naturally, resist odor without chemical treatments, and improve in texture and durability over years of wear.

Our Production Process

From raw fiber to finished garment, every step is done by hand in Nepal. Fibers are harvested seasonally, retted in mountain streams, hand-carded, spun on wooden charkhas, woven on heritage pit-looms, cut and sewn in our Kathmandu workshop, and packed in compostable materials. No industrial machinery, no chemical processing, no plastic packaging.

Built to Last, Not to Landfill

The average fast fashion garment is worn 7–10 times before disposal. A Kyamuno garment is designed to be worn 200+ times over many years. Our hemp products actually soften and strengthen with each wash. When the garment finally reaches end of life, it can be buried in soil where it decomposes naturally within weeks, returning nutrients to the earth.

Shipping & Care

We ship domestically across all 77 districts of Nepal with cash-on-delivery available, and internationally to over 40 countries with full tracking. All packaging is compostable and plastic-free. For care, we recommend hand-washing in cold water with mild detergent and line-drying in shade. Hemp garments can also be machine-washed on a gentle cycle. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners. With proper care, your Kyamuno piece will last for years and only get better with time.
